Description

The Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program (CFSP) aims to train individuals to build the institutional capacities needed for sustainable development in their country. It targets the 37 developing countries that are members of the International Organization of La Francophonie. Project activities include: (1) offering university studies leading to a master’s and doctoral degree and vocational training in Canada, in accordance to the training priorities of beneficiary countries; (2) updating the website and media spaces for visibility and exchange opportunities for scholars; and (3) supporting scholars in their programs, through targeted activities, workshops and webinars. This phase of the Program does not include new recruitment and will allow selected scholars in phase VI (2015-2020) to complete their studies.

Expected results

The expected results of this project include: (1) effective re-integration of scholars (women and men) that are able to transfer their knowledge and skills in partner institutions; and (2) increased influence and positioning of women and men, particularly women, within the institutions of CFSP beneficiary countries.

Results achieved

Results achieved as of March 2023 include: (1) the management of 179 scholars, including 92 women; (2) the graduation of 135 scholars, including 71 women; (3) 88% of scholars re-integrated within their institutions after six months of their return to their country; (4) 96% of scholars affirm having obtained increased knowledge and skills following their training in Canada.
