CA-3-A035392001 2026-07-10T06:32:42 This project aims to support women entrepreneurs in certain urban and surrounding areas in Ethiopia. It seeks to give women entrepreneurs better access to finance and entrepreneurial and technical training and services. Women who have experience in running their own micro or small business decide to participate in the program and the components of the program that are most useful for them. The program helps women gain access to microfinance, provides training on skill development, technology and product development, and also includes general advocacy and outreach initiatives. This initiative seeks to increase the incomes and employment of female-run micro and small businesses. It aims to provide loans to about 17,500 women entrepreneurs, facilitate access to financial services, and improve the capacity of existing microfinance institutions. Results achieved as of March 2018 include: (1) 2,583 women were provided business loans at a value of $42 million; (2) 3,694 women were provided business training; (3) 5,711 women registered with project. These results have contributed to give women entrepreneurs in Ethiopia gain better access to finance, entrepreneurial, technical training and services.
