ASTI compiles, analyzes, and publicizes data on institutional developments, investments, and capacity trends in agricultural R&D in low- and middle-income countries worldwide. These indicators allow the performance, inputs, and outcomes of agricultural science and technology systems in developing countries to be measured, monitored, and benchmarked. Results achieved as of the end of the project (February 2015) include:(1) the development of a data management portal for the Central American and Caribbean survey rounds, which allows country focal points to manage the survey process; (2) the creation of interactive online country pages and country benchmarking tools featuring national agricultural research and development capacity, investment, and institutional indicators and trends; (3) a series of country factsheets, and (4) the establishment of the capacity to manage institutional data collection systems at the national level through the development of a network of national focal points and online tools;and (5) preparation of a regional report based on ASTI’s new data for Africa south of the Sahara entitled Taking Stock of National Agricultural R&D Capacity in Africa South of the Sahara.
