    <title>Promoting Learning Empowerment and Play</title>
    <description>This project focuses on enhancing the quality of public education in host communities affected by the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis. Implemented in the northern governorates of Jordan (Zarqa, Irbid and Mafraq), the project works with public schools and local communities to promote quality of education, enhance community participation in education programs, and improve school infrastructure.</description>

    <expectedResults>The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved learning environments for children and youth with a particular focus on girls and women; (2) increased child and youth participation in leadership roles within schools and in community settings, with a particular focus on girls and women; and (3) increased use of Sport for Development by civil society and municipalities to contribute to national development objectives.</expectedResults>
    <resultsAchieved>Results achieved as of the end of the project (June 2019) include: (1) delivered and provided support to teachers for a comprehensive teacher training program on play-based learning (Continuum Training of Teachers) through the distribution of play equipment and play-based learning manuals; (2) rehabilitated 26 schools  (of which 13 are for girls and 13 for boys) in a comprehensive manner covering classrooms, sanitation facilities, play spaces, corridors, and libraries; (3) constructed 10 football pitches in public schools (of which 5 are for girls and 5 arefor boys), an unprecedented initiative in public schools, especially schools for girls; (4) provided support  for child and youth-led initiatives based on the themes of environmental sustainability and gender equality, and the establishment of 6 child clubs (of which 3 are for girls); and (5) provided training  to women and men coaches on life skills through football, in partnership with 16 community-based organizations, resulting in coaches establishing sports teams and conducting play days and tournaments within their communities.</resultsAchieved>
