CA-3-D003973001 2026-06-07T06:33:05 This project aims to improve learning outcomes for all girls and boys, particularly marginalized children enrolled in public schools from early childhood to the end of secondary in Jordan through the Education for Jordan Prosperity (E4JP). Project activities include: (1) assisting in sustaining the activities of Jordan’s Ministry of Education; (2) accommodating 126,000 Syrian refugee children and over 46,000 children of other nationalities in public schools; and (3) improving the quality and equity of education services for the benefit of all girls and boys enrolled in public education. As with all budget projects, Canada is working in close cooperation with other donors and the Government of Jordan to(a) promote effective, transparent and accountable country systems; (b) increase donor coordination and harmonization; and (c) strengthen mutual accountability. E4JP also fosters greater policy dialogue among donors, government and partners, which helps to strengthen efforts for effective, focussed aid, and long-term development results. Closed 2018-03-23T00:00:00 2023-12-31T00:00:00 Jordan 100.00% Government of Jordan Education policy and administrative management 20.00% Education facilities and training 25.00% Teacher training 25.00% Primary education 25.00% Women's rights organisations and movements, and government institutions 5.00% 75476843.90 The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) the Ministry of Education developed a more inclusive, gender-responsive and environmentally-aware education system; (2) field directorates and schools provide higher-quality education services in an inclusive, gender-responsive and environmentally-aware manner; and (3) parents and communities are engaged in girls’ and boys’ development and learning inside and outside the classroom. Results achieved as of March 2024 include: (1) supported the Ministry of Education launched a Crisis and Risk Management Strategy and an Education Management Information System and Open Data portal. Also integrated gender equality in the education strategy, across policies, and in the Early Childhood Development Framework. Nearly 1.6 million children, including approximately 149,000 Syrian refugee and 8,400 other refugee children, enrolled in formal public pre-primary, primary and secondary education; (2) supported approximately 91,500 (61% women) in-service educators composed of teachers, principals, supervisors and counsellors to participate in continuing professional development courses in-person and online. 4,922 (65% women) newly qualified teachers completed preservice training on pedagogy, gender equality and inclusion and environment sustainability. Also, trained and certified 760 newly appointed education supervisors and principals (49% women); and (3) created parent-teacher associations at all 4,062 schools, 391 education councils established, and 4 community awareness-raising campaigns conducted on the importance of learning recovery and remedial education post-COVID pandemic. This includes education for all, inclusive of refugees and children with disabilities, education quality, and the role of teachers.
