CA-3-D004233001 2026-07-10T06:32:42 This five-year joint programme aims to promote education about the Holocaust and its relevance to other genocides worldwide. The Holocaust Education Focal Point supports Member States in the implementation of education on the Holocaust, developing projects in support of this purpose and fostering innovative approaches in the field. Canadian funding supports the first two years of the program. More specifically the program produces guidelines on how education about the Holocaust and other genocides globally, can be introduced and sustained in education systems. This project also builds the capacity of education stakeholders to develop country-specific initiatives and strategies that contribute to their local context and priorities through the International Conference on Education and the Holocaust (ICEH). Results achieved at the end of the project (March 2019) include: (1) 80% of 20 education policy-makers participating in this project reported having better understanding of how to include teaching and learning about the history of the Holocaust and other genocides in educational policies that aim to foster global citizenship and the prevention of genocide; and (2) obtained over 2000 visits of the UNESCO websites and downloads of research reports focusing on the causes and consequences of the Holocaust and its relevance to other genocides.
