CA-3-D004240001 2026-05-15T06:32:54 The project aims to strengthen the ability of civil society to strategically plan and implement projects aimed at increasing the substantive participation of women and gender inclusion in the peace process at the sub-national level in Myanmar. It supports emerging organizations to help them influence the peace process as well as provide technical support to organizations so they are well-equipped to take advantage of opportunities and be at the forefront of advocating inclusive coherent strategies be used to implement the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement. Closed 2017-02-14T00:00:00 2019-03-31T00:00:00 Myanmar 100.00% Nordic International Support Foundation Civilian peace-building, conflict prevention and resolution 100.00% 337485.00 The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased meaningful and sustained engagement of civil society and women’s organisations around Gender, Peace and Security (GPS) through actions inside the formal peace process, and those designed to influence it from outside; and (2) improved capacity of civil society and women’s organisations to engage in and towards the peace process on GPS issues. Results achieved at the end of the project (March 2019) include: (1) established various gender inclusion measures in the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee, including a 30% quota for inclusion of women; (2) supported women civil society organizations to actively participate in the formal peace process. As a result, the Mon Women Network secured 5 seats at The New Mon State Party National Dialogue and the Kachin State Women’s Network gained a 30% quota in Kachine State Civil Society Organization Forum decision-making body; and (3) improved civil society and women’s organizations capacity to engage in and towards the peace process on Gender, Peace and Security issues. 94% of Gender, Peace and Security participating organizations showed an improvement in 3 targeted areas of organisational capacity and 67.4% of surveyed workshops participants reported significant improvement.
