CA-3-P006482001 2026-06-17T08:34:36 This project is part of Canada’s Women’s Voice and Leadership Program, which supports local and regional women’s organisations and networks that are working to promote women’s rights, and advance women’s empowerment and gender equality in developing countries. This is done by supporting activities, building institutional capacity, and promoting network and alliance-building as women’s rights and feminist organizations are critical agents of change. The Program also responds to the globally recognized, significant gap in funding and support to women’s rights organizations and movements around the world. This project is implemented by Oxfam-Québec. It aims to strengthen the capacities of 25 local women’s rights organizations in Honduras, as well as national and sub-national women’s rights platforms, networks and alliances, particularly those representing vulnerable and marginalized women and girls. Operational 2019-03-22T00:00:00 2024-05-31T00:00:00 Honduras 97.16% Oxfam Quebec Women's rights organisations and movements, and government institutions 97.16% Sectors not specified 2.84% 5150000.00 The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved management and sustainability of 25 local women’s rights organizations in Honduras, particularly those representing vulnerable and marginalized women and girls; (2) enhanced performance of the women’s rights organizations’ programming and advocacy to advance gender equality in Honduras; (3) increased effectiveness of national and sub-national women’s rights platforms, networks and alliances to affect policy, legal and social change in Honduras. Results achieved as of March 2025 include: (1) directly reached over 22,000 people, mostly women, including many young women, and nearly 96,000 indirectly through activities promoting women’s rights, gender equality, and positive masculinities; (2) provided nearly $2.85 million in direct funding to 33 women’s rights organizations across Honduras, including Indigenous, Afro-Honduran, and Mestiza groups, to support their services, advocacy, and organizational development; (3) contributed to 13 public policies advancing women’s rights, including gender budgeting and a law supporting shelters for survivors of gender-based violence; and (4) 73% of supported organizations reported progress in gender equality, while 83% of women in leadership activities experienced personal growth, gaining confidence, awareness of their rights, and improved communication and emotional well-being. Key impact areas include preventing gender-based violence, fostering community participation, promoting labor rights, and enhancing women’s roles in decision-making.
