CA-3-P011495001 2026-06-15T06:32:38 The Sustainable Energy and Economic Development in Jordan project (SEED II) aims to improve the livelihoods of women, youth, and marginalized groups in poor communities of the Jordan Valley region through renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions. It seeks to increase the employability of women and youth in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector through vocational training, work placements, and internships. It also seeks to foster climate-smart innovation in agriculture through incubators for entrepreneurs, reduce energy bills for public institutions through renewable energy installations, empower women to participate in decision-making related to renewable energy and benefit from economic opportunities. The Project builds on the achievements of the first phase (SEED I, 2016-2023; 24.6M), replicating successful interventions in new implementation sites across the Jordan Valley and incorporating lessons learned and best practices. Energy education/training 30.00% Solar energy 60.00% Agricultural development 10.00% 18200000.00 The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased economic participation, particularly women and youth, in the Jordan Valley’s enhanced renewable energy sector; (2) improved provision of gender-responsive, sustainable municipal services through savings from increased adoption of clean energy by municipalities and public institutions in the Jordan Valley; and (3) increased leadership and decision-making for women on renewable energy in the Jordan Valley. Results achieved as of April 2025 include: (1) conducted community mapping and selected 6 community based organizations (4 women-led) as partners for awareness campaigns and community engagement; (2) trained 49 volunteers to become energy ambassadors and gender equality champions; and (3) conducted mapping and energy audits of public institutions, including schools and clinics, to assess current energy consumption patterns, infrastructure readiness and suitability for renewable energy and energy efficiency interventions.
