CA-3-P011609001 2026-08-18T06:32:38 This project aims to strengthen Peru’s water security and climate resilience through investments in nature-based solutions in 14 regions. Project activities include: (1) working to improve performance among governing authorities to coordinate actions with other sectors toward shared objectives; (2) strengthening institutional capacities and performance to integrate a gender-sensitive approach to watershed planning; (3) promoting evidence-based decision-making and tools for integrated water resources management and climate change adaptation; (4) mobilizing public and private funding for natural infrastructure projects from new investors; and (5) providing support to strengthen enabling conditions for improved water governance, especially gender equality in water governance and natural infrastructure management. The project is implemented through a delegated cooperation arrangement with the United States Agency for International Development and a consortium led by Forest Trends. Results achieved as of January 2025 include: (1) developed and mobilized a portfolio of more than 80 natural infrastructure projects across Peru, with a total value of more than US$383 million, of which more than US$38.4 million in investments have been mobilized and US$15 million have been implemented; (2) materialized 12,317 hectares of biologically important areas, improved natural resource management, and restoration of vegetation cover; (3) contributed to the development, revision, and implementation of 76 policy instruments related to natural infrastructure for water security, including national laws, ministerial resolutions, technical guidelines, and strategic plans. This was achieved in sectors such as water, sanitation, the environment, disaster risk management, and gender equality; and (4) provided access to more than 21,416 people, including 10,690 women, to assistance in adapting to the effects of climate change.
