    <title>Water for Community Health</title>
    <description>This program strengthens the management and technical capacities of three local non-government organizations (India, Haiti, Zambia) to provide training, technical consulting, and other services to community organizations to improve access to clean water and sanitation for the poor. The program provides management training and support, training of trainers, technical support for curriculum development, training and equipment on water quality testing, and assistance with operations research. The partner organisations are: Development of Humane Action/DHAN (India), Programme d'appui aux initiatives du développement humain/PADEIH (Haiti), Seeds of Hope International/SHIP (Zambia).</description>

    <resultsAchieved>Results achieved as of the end of the project (September 2011) include: (i) 56 organisations trained by local Water Expertise and Training (WET)-Centers in Zambia, India and Haiti have designed and implemented household water treatment (HWT) and low-cost sanitation technology projects that have reached 369,500 people; (ii) 104 consulting services were provided by WET-Centers to client organisations on various Water, Sanitation and Hygiene projects; (iii) 11 training workshop materials were designed and adapted in Zambia, Haiti and India on different water, sanitation and hygiene subject matters, such as HWT , Water Quality Testing, Biosand Filter Technician, Community Health Promotion, Household Rainwater Harvesting, Low-Cost Sanitation, Effective Facilitation Skills, and Safe Water for People Living with HIV/AIDS; (iv) 35 staff (16 women, 19 men) of the partner organization in Canada, Zambia and Haiti received accreditation to deliver training and consulting support in these matters; (v) the WET-Centers have delivered 128 training workshops to 1,977 individuals, from 645 different organisations, on improved HWT and low-cost sanitation technologies; (vi) over 300 WASH awareness workshops/sessions were conducted by WET-Centers in Zambia, India and Haiti, reaching 28,200 people (53% women) from over 670 different organisations; (vii) two water testing labs were established in Zambia with 3,600 water quality tests performed; and (viii) a photo documentary was developed and disseminated in ten venues in Western Canada, and visited by 10,000 people.</resultsAchieved>
