CA-3-S064690001 2026-07-16T06:32:50 The goal of the Schooling and Skills for Development Program is to improve enrollment rates and job skills in northern Haiti and in the Bamako, San and Bandiagara regions of Mali. The program aims to strengthen formal and informal education systems and micro-enterprises. It particularly focuses on increasing access to education in countries where the population exceeds school capacity. By building classrooms and training centers, the program contributes to closing infrastructure gaps and addressing security issues. Local partners' capacities are strengthened in order to contribute to the sustainability of all interventions. Program objectives also include gender equality in school achievements and professional development of teachers, as well as greater participation of the local population in protecting their environment. Closed 2010-05-12T00:00:00 2015-03-31T00:00:00 Haiti 64.00% Mali 36.00% Fondation Crudem Agricultural education/training 6.00% Vocational training 18.00% Education facilities and training 60.00% Teacher training 16.00% 2138651.00 Results achieved at the end of the project (August 2015) include the following: (1) 5,308 children, 3,687 of them girls, had access to learning opportunities because of the project; (2) 872 new students were enrolled in primary and secondary schools in Haiti, 400 of them girls, and 554 in Mali, 279 of them girls; (4) five millet mills were installed in five reference villages in the Bandiagara region of Mali, benefiting 1,000 women; (5) 159 women in Haiti and 2,325 women in Mali received training (literacy, basic and vocational training). These results have helped to increase the accessibility of primary and secondary education for girls and boys in the urban and rural regions of northern Haiti, as well as in San and Bamako in Mali, and to build the knowledge and capacity of workers in small businesses.
