Rayjon has previously established two health clinics, three elementary schools and one secondary school offering vocational training, and has built their capacity to deliver health services and educational programs. This project aims to develop the capacity of health and school councils in strategic planning, project management and fundraising to operate the schools and clinics sustainably. Over 18 months, 29,587 patients were seen at two health clinics. The quality of service provided in the Haut de St. Marc region, in particular to vulnerable infants, children and their mothers improved. Outreach work, through mobile clinics staffed by professionally trained health care workers, provided important health care and education services particularly during the cholera outbreak.
