<title>Delivering Maternal and Child Health Through Community Action on HIV and AIDS</title>
<description>This project aims to help the International HIV/AIDS Alliance reach the most vulnerable and most-at-risk populations while creating a series of entry points to maternal, sexual, reproductive and child health services, and promote a continuum of care for beneficiaries. The Alliance expects to reach 3.1 million individuals, prioritizing work with women and girls in generalized epidemics. In all settings, the Alliance aims to support vulnerable children and young people through family-centered care and support activities. It seeks to support 1,600 community-based organizations in obtaining the technical and organizational skills to deliver sustainable, integrated, quality programming. It aims to support countries to help form engaged inclusive societies, and create associate alliance that can document and share good practices on ensuring better outcomes for mothers and children, using HIV as an entry point.</description>

<expectedResults>The expected intermediate outcome for this project is: The Alliance has made a direct contribution to curbing the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and through that, improved maternal and child health.</expectedResults>
<resultsAchieved>Results achieved: The project reached 4.68 million people (2.76 million more than in 2011) with information to help them improve their overall health and awareness of HIV/AIDS. Women and girls made up 57% of the people reached globally, and 88% of the total number of people reached received HIV prevention information. 136,000 of the children reached were in Africa, and 395,000 people were reached with initiatives to reduce stigma and discrimination (more than four times the number of people reached in 2011). The project also distributed 58 million condoms, and increased the number of people accessing voluntary counseling and testing at Alliance-supported facilities, from 210,000 in 2011 to 596,000 in 2012. Finally, 69% of the 32 organizations working with IHAA reported an increase in programmes that integrate HIV and sexual and reproductive health or HIV and tuberculosis. These results contributed to raising awareness of HIV/AIDS prevention and testing among vulnerable populations.</resultsAchieved>
