The IYIP contributes to the YES by providing a large spectrum of Canadian graduates with valuable international development work experience abroad. Results achieved as of the end of the project (March 2014) include: coordinating eighteen internships in three countries. The students assisted local partners with activities to strengthen their management capacity (in Nicaragua), community organization for advocacy (in Nicaragua and Bolivia), and sustainable planning (in Haiti). The interns acquired new skills and abilities that will increase their employability such as: the production of a business plan, management and accounting, animation techniques, the development of a curriculum, and knowledge transfer techniques.
