Description and results
Description
The objective of this initiative is to increase the access of quality health services to women and children. The project supports 45 referral hospitals (that are more specialized and have the following basic services: medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology) through performance-based contracts to improve the quality and quantity of reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health services. The project also supports the central and departmental levels’ governance to ensure an efficient management and quality control and the monitoring of the performance of hospitals performances. Finally, the initiative supports the implementation of a coordinated network between the different levels of the health system to improve the care for women and children.
Expected results
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved access to reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health services in the communities targeted by this initiative, by taking into account the needs and specific interests of women; and (2) strengthened governance and management capacity of the health system at the central and departmental levels, by taking into account the needs and specific interests of women.
