Description

WFP’s programme includes a combination of relief and recovery activities to support the government in using innovative approaches that link food safety nets to local production, while supporting the local economy through local food purchases. The program is delivered through the in-kind distribution of food to 148,000 beneficiaries and electronic food vouchers to 92,000 food insecure households.

Expected results

Food assistance is provided to those people who are unable to meet their basic needs. It is done in a manner that reduces the exposure to risk for beneficiaries (especially that of women) and at the same time reduces the stigma and burden associated with carrying food items, particularly for female-headed households.
