Description

The project focuses on the most vulnerable, including small-scale farming households who have been: a) affected by the ongoing deterioration of the situation and conflict in Gaza in 2014; and b) the farmers who live in the most vulnerable communities in the eastern slopes and the Jordan Valley in the West Bank. In Gaza, the project works to help small-scale farmers (women and men) focused on plant and animal production to improve their livelihoods through increasing their production capacity and productivity. In the West Bank, the project targets vulnerable farmers (women and men) who are living in the Jordan Valley with the goal of strengthening their food security through increasing the quality and quantity of their production.

Expected results

The expected outcomes of the project include: 1. Small-scale farmers (women and men) in Gaza recover and improve their livelihoods through increased production capacity and productivity, benefitting 4,226 individuals (670 households); 2. Small-scale farmers (women and men in the West Bank protect and improve their livelihoods through increased product quality and quantity, benefitting 9,784 individuals (1,553 households); and 3. The economic status and role of women is strengthened in targeted communities of the West Bank and Gaza, benefitting 1,890 individuals (300 households).
