Description

The project supports the recruitment of up to 15 young Canadians through the United Nations Junior Professional Officers (JPO) Program. It is part of a larger contribution to the UN JPO Program which allows young Canadians to be assigned, as professional employees, to six United Nations organisations (UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, WFP and UNHCR). The Program provides these young Canadians with the opportunity to gain practical professional experience in international development through the United Nations system. The support includes costs associated with the assignment process, including salaries, posting allowances and training.

Expected results

The expected results for this project include: (1) increased international work opportunities within the UN system for young Canadians; and (2) enhanced pool of professionals qualified to work in the field of international development.
