Description 

This project provides support to the NATO Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security to implement the NATO Action Plan to mainstream United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR) related to women, peace and security and other related resolutions. The action plan includes the following activities: (1) institutional policies and structures; (2) cooperative security; (3) gender integration in NATO education, training and exercises; (4) defence planning and policy and UNSCR 1325; (5) public diplomacy and strategic communication; (6) civil society engagement; and (6) biennial independent review and recommendation on NATO and UNSCR 1325.

Expected results 

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) NATO leadership promotes gender equality and integration of gender perspectives in policies and structures; (2) NATO staff, allies, Partners and the wider publish show increased support in integrating women, Peace and Security into NATO policies and practices; (3) NATO have entered a regular dialogue with civil society on Women, Peace and Security at strategic and operational levels, which is deemed useful by NATO, its allies and partners, and civil society; and (4) stakeholders in Cooperative Security and Crisis Management have taken decisive steps to integrate gender perspectives.
