Description and results
Description
This technical assistance project aims to strengthen the Government of Mali's capacity to implement sector budget support that helps ensure the delivery of sexual and reproductive health services and care for women and girls. Technical assistance is a tool that helps achieve results, strengthen government structures in the health sector and promote the rights of women and girls, as well as contribute to fiduciary risk management. Project activities include: (1) providing support to relevant Government of Mali ministries in strategic planning and the development of sexual and reproductive health policies, standards and procedures; (2) providing training at the national and regional levels for health care providers; (3) implementing a pilot project based on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to inform girls and boys about sexual and reproductive health and family planning services. The direct beneficiaries of this technical assistance project are employees of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, and the Ministry of Women, Child and Family Promotion of Mali, and ultimately, women and girls in Mali who benefit from better sexual and reproductive health care.
Expected results
The expected results of this project include: (1) increased capacity of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, and the Ministry of the Advancement of Women, Children and the Family in the area of sexual and reproductive health and rights, reflecting gender equality; (2) strengthened capacity of decentralized institutions to adapt services to the needs of women and girls; and (3) strengthened capacity of local actors in communications on sexual and reproductive rights issues that integrate gender.
