Description and results
Description
This grant represents Canada's institutional support to the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). CGIAR uses these funds, along with other donors funding, to achieve its mandate. CGIAR’s mandate is to reduce poverty and hunger, improve human health and nutrition, and enhance ecological resilience through high-quality international agriculture research, partnership and leadership. Research is carried out by 15 member centers of the CGIAR Consortium, in close collaboration with hundreds of partners, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, development organizations, and the private sector. Canada’s support to the CGIAR contributes to reduce rural poverty, increase food security, improve human health and nutrition, and promote sustainable management of natural resources.
Expected results
The expected system level outcomes as stated by CGIAR include: (1) reduced rural poverty; (2) improved food security; (3) improved nutrition and health; and (4) sustainable management of natural resources.
