The project aims to improve the inclusion of women in public and democratic life in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Project activities include: (1) organizing civic education campaigns and training facilitators in schools on girls' and women's rights, human rights, civic participation, democratic principles, the electoral process and peace; (2) strengthening and operationalizing literacy centers; (3) strengthening the exercise of women's and marginalized citizens' right to vote; and (4) supporting groups (including women's groups) to observe the 2023 elections. The project aims to reach 20 million voters, representing half of the voting-age population in DRC (of whom 10.12 million are women). It aims to reach between 1.5 and 2 million young girls and boys through civic and electoral education campaigns. The projet is also designed to train 3,000 election observers (of whom 2,200 are women), and provide literacy and political rights training to approximately 20,000 women.

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved conditions of inclusion through civic and voter education for girls and boys, men, women, civil and political rights and women's rights advocates; (2) reduced educational, cultural and economic barriers for women; and (3) increased participation of women and marginalized citizens in the electoral process and democratic life through mobilization.

Results achieved as of May 2024 include: (1) reached 993,625 people via awareness-raising on human rights, citizen participation, the electoral process and peace through awareness-raising sessions; (2) reached 806,000 people via awareness-raising through radio; (3) reached 111,000 people via awareness-raising through social networks; (4) trained 3,002 people as awareness-raising facilitators, including 45 people living with disabilities, 44 people living with albinism and 8 indigenous Pygmy people; and (5) trained 1,382 observers. In total, reached 23,916,059 people representing half of the DRC's voting-age population.
