Description

The Ethiopia-Canada Cooperation Office (ECCO), formerly known as the Programme Support Unit (PSU), is a CIDA project established to provide support in the development and management of the Canadian development cooperation programme in the Horn of Africa. The ECCO seeks to strengthen CIDA's field presence by effectively delivering new programme approaches and providing high-level professional support to the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) and to CIDA. The ECCO is a flexible, efficient and proactive mechanism capable of responding to evolving programme needs. The goal of the project is to assist in delivering and strengthening CIDA's development assistance programme to reduce poverty in the Horn of Africa, especially in Ethiopia. The purpose is to provide support to CIDA, its executing agencies and the Government of Ethiopia's implementing departments in planning and monitoring Canada's contributions to international cooperation and ensure that intended results are achieved. Under the scope of the ECCO project, CIDA expects to hire appropriate Ethiopian and Canadian expertise to undertake a range of activities related to programme planning and delivery, and administrative and logistical support. The ECCO also supports Ethiopia by providing expertise in response to GoE requests reflecting priorities as set out in the country's poverty reduction strategies and programs.
