Results achieved

Results achieved as of June 2011 include: Funding was contributed to the 6th ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) People’s Assembly (APA) to strengthen knowledge and analysis of development issues in Southeast Asia. Following the Assembly, participants showed increased capacity to address issues, problems, challenges, and threats identified during the APA; ASEAN officials provided access to proceedings and materials; and public awareness of the APA as a process of engaging civil society and other sectors in ASEAN activities had increased. In addition, the project provided funding to the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Secretariat for a media training program in Vietnam to increase the ability of the Vietnamese APEC Secretariat spokespeople to successfully interact with media and officials from the 21 APEC countries.
