Description 

This program and policy development initiative acts as a mechanism to support and strengthen knowledge and analysis of relevant development issues, key program priorities, and development needs and strategies in coordination and collaboration with current and potential partners.

Expected results 

Although initiatives such as these serve as important mechanisms to support the effective delivery of Canada's development assistance, no direct development outcomes are attributable to them.

Results achieved 

Results achieved as of May 2012 include: Support provided to the preparatory meeting of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues held in Nicaragua in February 2012. The meeting facilitated high-level policy dialogue between government, civil society and the donor community, on key issues affecting indigenous peoples related to food security and socio-economic development.
