Description

This project aims to involve more Canadians, especially children and youth, as global citizens and agents of change, increasing the participation and the support of Canada’s efforts in international development. Activities include: 1) holding workshops and training for Canadians as well as public outreach and information sessions on important international development subjects; (2) organizing capacity building events for their members (Canadian organizations working abroad); and (3) working with schools (teachers and students) on different projects like video competitions and creating course material relating to international development, and important international issues for teachers to use in class. This initiative targets Canadians and Canadian organizations working in international development as well as the communities they help abroad.

Expected results

The expected intermediate outcomes for this project include: (1) increased engagement by Canadians in international development and key global issues; and (2) increased effectiveness of Canadian development partners.

Results achieved

Results achieved as of March 2019 include: (1) 2,465,571 people reached through communication activities on international issues, including IDW; (2) 242 opportunities promoting capacity building and good practices for international development stakeholders; and (3) six consultations with Global Affairs Canada and an average of 74% of members/stakeholders indicated to be aware of GAC information.
