Description 

A powerful earthquake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Peru, south of Lima on August 15, 2007 and has affected over 200,000 families. CIDA's contribution is used to help the World Food Programme (WFP) provide emergency food assistance to vulnerable populations affected by the earthquake, particularly in rural areas where access is difficult. The operation is expected to reach an estimated 80,000 beneficiaries.
