Description

The conflict in the West Bank and Gaza regions has resulted in high levels of poverty and food insecurity, brought on by reduced employment and a lack of access to land and water resources, education, health services, and social transfers. CIDA's contribution is supporting the World Food Programme (WFP) in its efforts to help cover the food needs of vulnerable populations; to support productive activities that promote self-reliance and restore livelihoods; and to enhance the knowledge base, partnerships, and advocacy through the development of a food security monitoring system with the Ministry of Health and partner organizations. This operation is expected to meet the food aid needs of an estimated 665,000 food insecure beneficiaries.
