Description

Since November 2007, intense and continuous rains have affected several regions in Bolivia due to the La Nina climatic phenomenon, creating a significant flooding crisis. Approximately 73,000 families have been affected by the rising floodwaters. CIDA's contribution is used to help the World Food Programme (WFP) provide emergency food assistance to the disaster-affected population. Activities focus on helping to maintain the nutritional status of the affected population in rural communities and shelters/camps, with special attention to pregnant and nursing women, and children under five years of age who are at high risk of malnutrition. The operation is expected to reach an estimated 90,000 beneficiaries.
