Description

In 2005, Canada, Sweden and the United Kingdom came together to harmonize and align efforts to help UNICEF implement its Medium Term Strategic Plan (MTSP), improve its performance and deliver better results for girls and boys. This initiative is called the Joint Institutional Approach (JIA). The aim of the initiative is to provide targeted and effective support to UNICEF's MTSP and its cross-cutting strategies, including gender equality, in order to strengthen UNICEF's capacity to deliver on its commitments. The project in question requires the support of technical expertise in gender equality (GE) as it is one of the two cross-cutting strategies in the MTSP and an integral part of other cross-cutting themes such as results based management (RBM), evaluation, humanitarian capacity and reform. As one of three partners, Canada has agreed to focus its expert contribution on GE, RBM and evaluation with a supporting role in other cross cutting themes and on other related issues.
