Description

The International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) is a global alliance of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for humanitarian advocacy. It brings the experiences and views of NGOs working on humanitarian issues to the attention of policy and decision-makers. The membership of ICVA comprises some 80 NGOs and NGO networks, a number of which are headquartered in developing countries. Collaboration is an issue of central importance to international humanitarian action. Although there are a variety of institutional mechanisms that seek to promote collaboration, most remain too ill-defined in practice when it comes to substantive policy formulation and operations. As it looks towards future humanitarian challenges, ICVA is committed to seeing how best it can promote and implement collaboration effectively. The overall goal of this project is to define ICVA's role in promoting collaboration over the next decade and to identify strategy for the immediate future.
