Description 

October 6, 2009 - typhoon Ketsana hit the Philippines on September 26, causing massive destruction and flooding in Manila and other areas. As of October 6, an estimated 3.9 million people have been affected, while 295 are dead and 39 missing. This project allows UNICEF to provide multisectoral support to 830,000 vulnerable people affected by the Typhoon for six months. UNICEF's activities focus on emergency water, sanitation, hygiene, health, nutrition (infant feeding), protection, and non-food items. These activities include the coordination of water, sanitation and hygiene activities and providing water, sanitation and hygiene services in schools; the provision of mother and child health services; supporting appropriate infant feeding; psycho-social support; and the provision of kits for families.
