Description

October 6, 2009 - Typhoon Ketsana struck the Philippines on September 26, causing massive destruction and flooding in Manila and other areas. As of October 6, an estimated 3.9 million people have been affected, while 295 are dead and 39 missing. This project supports the coordination, information, and advocacy services of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. It facilitates timely, efficient, effective, and safe delivery of humanitarian assistance. It also supports the review and adjustment of current inter-agency and sector coordination mechanisms to strengthen consultation processes, transparency, and accountability in line with the humanitarian reform agenda, which includes strengthening cluster groups and the principles of partnership and reviewing humanitarian financing mechanisms.
