Description

May 28, 2010 - The Policy Action Group on Emergency Response (PAGER) is an informal, flexible and responsive forum of operational Canadian humanitarian agencies whose mandate involves responding to humanitarian emergencies worldwide. Its membership includes representatives from non-governmental organizations, CIDA's International Humanitarian Assistance Division, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. PAGER was created to fill a perceived gap between operational realities and policy making, and to promote greater information sharing and co-ordination between agencies concerned with humanitarian action. PAGER is the only forum to provide this interface in Canada. The aim of this project is to strengthen the quality and effectiveness of humanitarian action of the members of the humanitarian community, both individually and collectively. The expected project outcome is an improved capacity for, and quality of engagement of PAGER members in humanitarian action and dialogue in the field, in Canada and globally. This is achieved through: regular PAGER meetings for members and heads of agencies; training programs on key humanitarian policy issues and practices; as well as consultations and participation in international forums on humanitarian assistance.
