Description

23 March, 2011 - Yemen has been affected by conflict in the north, disturbances in the south, the fight against terrorism and growing socio-economic difficulties. About 350,000 people have been displaced by the conflict. In addition, there are more than 200,000 refugees, mostly from Somalia, in the country. CIDA supports the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)’s programme in Yemen which is to provide protection and assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons by helping to ensure that their basic humanitarian needs are met in the areas of water and sanitation, shelter, primary health care, education and community services.
