Description

With CIDA support, Action Against Hunger is addressing the basic needs of displaced and conflict-affected people in North and South Kivu provinces in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Project activities focus on: community-based treatment and management of acute malnutrition; improving access to safe water and sanitation facilities; and providing targeted livelihoods support to vulnerable displaced, returnee, and host families, both those with and those without access to agricultural land.

Expected results

Expected outputs include: therapeutic and supplementary feeding provided to patients suffering from acute malnutrition; damaged water sources rehabilitated; latrines, hand-washing stations, showers, and medical waste incinerators provided and/or rehabilitated in health centres; training conducted on safe hygiene practices and hygiene materials distributed (such as soap); and livelihoods training conducted in parallel with the distribution of seeds, tools, and/or small livestock inputs. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people, especially women and children.
