Description

With CIDA support, Save the Children Canada is addressing the emergency nutrition and protection needs of conflict-affected people in Jonglei State, South Sudan. Activities focus on the provision of nutrition care and treatment services for 2,410 severely malnourished children without complications,10,086 moderately malnourished children under five, and 10,435 pregnant and/or lactating women; training 90 community nutrition volunteers and village health committee members to carry out nutrition screening activities; nutrition, hygiene, and health education campaigns in local communities; and child protection messages and training, in order to mitigate the impact on vulnerable children of Jonglei's extended conflict.

Expected results

Expected outputs include: managing severe and moderate malnutrition cases; training on protocols of management of acute malnutrition and active case finding, screening, and referrals; vaccinations, screening and treatment of common and severe diseases; and training on nutrition, health and child protection. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people, especially women and children.
