Description 

With CIDA support, Development and Peace is addressing the basic needs of 146,500 displaced and conflict-affected people (IDPs) in two camps in West Darfur, Sudan by providing life-saving emergency nutrition and health care. Project activities focus on: the provision of primary health care; ante/intra /postnatal care and safe motherhood/neonatal practices; growth monitoring/screening for malnutrition, and supplementary feeding; and immunizations. An estimated 110,000 medical consultations, 16,400 ante/postnatal checks, and 19,800 nutritional services are expected to be provided during the project duration. Another 36,500 beneficiaries are also expected to benefit from health and nutrition education.

Expected results 

Expected outputs include: the provision of emergency health care, as well as essential drugs, medical supplies and equipment; ante/intra/post natal care and safe motherhood services; screening for malnutrition and supplemental feeding; immunisations; and health and nutrition education. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people, especially women and children.
