Description

January 28, 2013 - With Canada's support, CARE Canada is providing assistance to off-camp Malian refugees, returnees and their host communities in Tillabéry, an area experiencing a chronic food deficit and the effects of the conflict in neighbouring northern Mali. CARE Canada is providing non-food items, such as water storage containers and mosquito nets for 8,300 households; supporting hygiene promotion in host communities for 50,000 people; and providing cash transfers to 2,000 vulnerable households.

Expected results

The project is expected to result in improved health and decreased risk of water-borne diseases for 50,000 people in a region affected by food insecurity and displacement, and improved resilience and food security for 2,000 vulnerable families. The expected intermediate outcome is reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people, especially women and children.
