This project is part of the Technical assistance and aid effectiveness project, which aims to deploy short-and long-term specialist advisory resources, provide targeted technical assistance, and mainstream gender equality in key areas and sectors in Tanzania. Global Affairs Canada (GAC) collaborates with the government of Tanzania, civil society, and other donors to identify, manage, and effectively implement technical assistance. The technical assistance aims to improve aid effectiveness across all GAC programming areas. Types of technical needs supported include: gender-sensitive strategic planning, evidence-based policy research and development, policy dialogue, monitoring and evaluation, public expenditure tracking, public consultations, targeted and special audits, strengthened procurement and audit systems, gender budgeting, strengthened intergovernmental linkages, budget consultations, donor coordination, research and analysis, communications, the provision of resources for studies, workshops and training for the government of Tanzania and civil society partners engaged in GAC’s programming areas. This sub-project of the Technical assistance envelope consists in a grant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the Capacity for development results and effectiveness (CDRE). This project aims to enhance government capacity at national and sub-national levels for effective planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting on results. The CDRE comprised 3 components: (1) enhancing effective development through aid coordination and mobilizing new development finance; (2) enhancing data systems to improve evidence-based planning, policy-making, monitoring and evaluation; and (3) supporting improved policy formulation and analysis.
