Description

This project offers greater availability and use of primary health care services, including the sexual and reproductive health of women and girls, such as maternal and newborn care, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The project's component provides additional funding to help with the coronavirus (COVID-19) response, without compromising the achievement of the original project results. The project aims to reach 1.9 million people living in seven health zones in the province of Kinshasa, including 984,404 women, 405,343 of whom are of child bearing age, 482,551 adolescents and 386,041 children under the age of five.

Expected results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased the capacity of the Provincial Health Division, as well as that of health centers and hospitals in the greater Kinshasa region, to respond safely to health needs in times of pandemic; and (2) decreased the spread of COVID-19 by taking into account gender equality and the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls.
