Description 

This project aims to support Belize and Guatemala in their efforts to find a permanent solution to their territorial disagreement through the implementation and monitoring of confidence-building measures, especially efforts to mediate between government authorities of both parties.

Expected results 

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved bilateral relationship between Belize and Guatemala; (2) increased acceptance of settling the territorial dispute in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and fixing the date of the referenda; and (3) increased effectiveness of communities and armed forces of Belize and Guatemala to reduce the number of violent incidents in the Adjacency Zone.
