This project focuses on capacity building within Community Based Organizations (CBOs) that bridge gender gaps, as women are often left out or inadequately targeted as critical stakeholders in the prevention of violent extremism. Project activities include: (1) developing a community training guide for capacity building that includes the drivers of radicalization, building resilience, and good practices related to women led projects; (2) developing a training guide for women representatives of the Kenyan Women Parliamentarian Association; (3) providing training to women parliamentarians on these guides; (4) providing training to CBOs and women led organizations on gender and counter violent extremism guide that promote knowledge transfer and networking; and (5) supporting CBOs in holding community awareness dialogue to create awareness and empower communities on the importance of prevention.

Expected results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) improved resilience and engagement of communities and civil society in the areas of counterterrorism and/or anti-crime, in a manner that is consistent with international norms and standards; and (2) enhanced political commitments to implement legislation and policies to address and prevent violent extremism.
