Description 

This project aims to build the technical capacity of both national and regional Moroccan trainers to institutionalize and rollout the training program and resources within the National Training Academy, to better manage violent extremists within prisons. Project activities include: (1) developing an updated curriculum in partnership with the National Training Academy and other relevant domestic and international experts; (2) developing Training-of-Trainers (ToT) resources and hosting ToT workshops in direct partnership with the National Training Academy to support the mainstreaming of the national curriculum in the existing Moroccan national prisons infrastructure; (3) facilitating the national rollout of 18 countering violent extremism in prisons training workshops for frontline prison staff for all 18 prison institutions that currently house violent extremists; and (4) facilitating a final validation workshop for trainers trained through the project, national and international experts and others to validate the suitability of training material for activities, supporting the Moroccan Delegation Générale a l’Administration Pénitentiaire et a la Réinsertion (DGAPR) adopting a strategy for future training rollout, and performing a final evaluation of the program.

Expected results 

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) Moroccan DGAPR and its National Training Academy are equipped with the tools and staff to provide Preventing / Countering Violent Extremism intensive training throughout the Moroccan prison system beyond the duration of the project; (2) Moroccan prison staff can more effectively manage their VEO population and reduce the risk of radicalization and recruitment to violent extremism inside prisons; and (3) Moroccan prison staff have access to CVE-P learning program beyond the duration of the project.
