Description

This project aims to strengthen Canadian global leadership in supporting the needs of developing countries, including small island developing states (SIDS) and coastal least developed countries (LDCs), in advancing sustainable ocean economies. Specifically, it would assist developing countries in producing sustainable ocean plans (or Blue Economy Strategies), in alignment with HLP leaders’ commitment to sustainably manage 100% of the ocean area under their national jurisdiction by 2025. PROBLUE, as a trusted and leading partner in advancing blue economies in developing countries, is well positioned to deliver this funding.

Expected results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) preventing and reducing marine litter and pollution; and (2) improving the capacity of developing countries to manage their marine and coastal resources.
