Description

This initiative is part of the 40 million 2020-2021 Crisis-Pool fund of the Canadian Government intended to fund projects on resilience that counter the effects of the COVID-19 virus in developing countries. This project aims to address food and nutrition insecurity caused by COVID-19 in Haiti. The project aims to develop and improve the production of local smallholder farmers and to support activities, including the prevention of acute malnutrition based on an integrated and holistic approach.

Expected results

The expected results of this project include: (1) development and improvement of local production by reinforcing access between markets and smallholders in the targeted communities; (2) Schools in target communities enjoy diverse and nutritious meals from small local farmers; and (3) reinforcement of absorption, adaptation and transformation capacities of targeted communities to face risks, shocks and climate change while reducing vulnerabilities and improving the role and leadership of women.
