Description

The project aims to improve the capacity of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Member States and local partners to increase their capacities to provide gender-responsive humanitarian assistance and respond to new complex natural and man-made disasters. It also integrates protection and inclusiveness (PGI) considerations, climate change adaptation, environmental sustainability standards, and measures into disaster management. Project activities include: (1) developing regional capacity building; (2) developing an operational guideline on new risk scenarios (climate change, public health crisis, conflict); (3) giving training on humanitarian assistance, protection and gender inclusion in emergency response; (4) holding multi-sectoral workshops on gender-sensitive and inclusive humanitarian assistance response guidelines; and (5) creating knowledge exchange on gender-responsive, inclusive, and sustainable humanitarian assistance.

Expected results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced preparedness of the ASEAN region against multiple types of disaster through the integration of PGI, climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability standards and measures into the regional disaster management system; and (2) improved disaster management and emergency response practices of ASEAN Members States, which include the integration of PGI, climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability standards and measures.
