Description

This project supports the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in deploying gender experts to national and international accountability mechanisms and civil society organizations. These experts support the documentation of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and the integration of a gender analysis in accountability processes.

Expected results

The expected results for this project are: (1) enhanced capacity of national and international accountability mechanisms to address SGBV; (2) gender justice experts created a greater impact on the accountability processes; and (3) strengthened accountability for women's human rights and gender-responsive rule of law and support for transitional justice processes in conflict, post-conflict and crisis situations.

Results achieved

Results achieved as of March 2022 include deploying 10 experts in the context of missions supporting justice and accountability to international crimes, sexual and gender-based violence and serious human rights violations in eight countries worldwide.
