Project profile — Support to Democratization and Inclusive Electoral Processes in the State of Palestine

This project supports the Palestinian Central Elections Commission and other stakeholders in organizing inclusive and transparent elections in the occupied Palestinian territory. It aims to strengthen the capacities of electoral institutions, enhance transparency in the electoral process, and promote democratic participation. The project works to increase the engagement of civil society organizations, the media, and national observers throughout the election cycle. It focuses on fostering an environment that encourages the participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities, thereby contributing to a more representative and inclusive political process. By improving institutional effectiveness and collaboration, the project supports the sustainability of democratic governance in the Palestinian context.

The results achieved by the end of the project (December 2025) include: 1) Strengthened capacity and preparedness of the Palestinian Central Elections Commission for the 2026 local elections through investments in strategic planning, digital transformation, operational readiness, and staff development. 2) Increased democratic participation among youth through the implementation of school elections in 40 public schools across the West Bank, engaging 12,323 students and achieving a voluntary registration rate of 95.75% and a voter turnout rate of 91.29%. 3) Enhanced civic participation and inclusive governance through dialogue platforms reaching more than 5.1 million people, consultations on governance reform, and measures promoting the representation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in decision-making structures.
